Welcome to Chiyaba, a delightful cafe nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Kamimeguro in Tokyo. This quaint establishment has rapidly become a beacon for lovers of South Asian-inspired teas, particularly chai. Since opening its doors in 2022, Chiyaba has established itself as a cozy sanctuary away from the bustling city life, perfect for those seeking a warm drink and a moment of tranquility.

What truly sets Chiyaba apart is its commitment to authenticity and quality. The cafe specializes in a variety of tea blends, with a noteworthy highlight being their masala chai. This rich, creamy concoction is expertly infused with an array of spices that tantalize the taste buds, leaving you craving another sip. Markos Paterakis, a recent visitor, raved about how it is a 'hidden gem for chai lovers,' emphasizing the perfectly balanced flavors that truly capture the essence of South Asian tea culture.

The ambience of Chiyaba is equally captivating; it exudes a chill vibe that invites you to sit back, relax, and enjoy your drink. With tasteful interior design that enhances the overall experience, it's no wonder that this cafe attracts a crowd. However, keep in mind that seating can fill up quickly on weekends, so a little patience may be required if you're visiting at peak times!

For those who are adventurous with their palate, consider trying the Cold Strike Mountain paired with Mini Sel Roti and Spice Nuts (¥1520). This drink is not only aromatic but comes beautifully presented with a symphony of flavors integrated into every sip—though some have noted that the mini sel roti can occasionally be less than perfect.

Customer experiences at Chiyaba are genuinely heartwarming. Rexly Gummies shared a marvelous anecdote about discovering this café on a rainy day, expressing gratitude for the warm welcome they received, especially with a stroller in tow. The staff at Chiyaba are known for their hospitable nature and ability to converse fluently in English, making it accessible for international visitors.

Chiyaba is not just about the tea; it’s about creating a sense of community where friends can gather, families can relax, and individuals can escape the city rush. So whether you're a local or merely passing through Tokyo, Chiyaba is a must-visit for a taste of authentic South Asian tea culture delivered with kindness and care.

For chai aficionados and tea enthusiasts alike, Chiyaba promises an experience that is not only delicious but also filled with warmth and charm. Don’t miss out on this little treasure in Meguro City!

South asian/nepali style tea place.Rose hip tea blend was good. Seating can get full rather quickly on weekends so expect some queue. Cashless payments only, english menu is available.

A hidden gem for chai lovers! Rich, creamy, and perfectly spiced—this place takes chai seriously. Chill vibes, kind staff, and a perfect escape from the city rush. Pro tip: Go for the masala chai and pair it with one of their homemade snacks. Total win.

I found this cafe in a Japanese website and visited in a rainy day, I’m so glad I find this local gem. The interior is very tasteful and most importantly this is one of the best chai I have ever had, the spices infused nuts are great additional

Chiyaba was long on our visit list when it opened in 2022, but alas covid wouldn’t agreed to our travel plans. 3 years later, we arrived to this charming and charismatic space with a sleeping toddler, quite worried about his admission since we have a stroller on hand. But any reservation that we had was quickly put to ease when we were warmly invited by the tending staff who spoke perfect english to let ourselves be at our own comfort inside. It was inviting. We were surrounded by an alluring scent of spices that was playing softly in the background. Enough to be noticed, but not overwhelmingly attention seeking. The host introduced to us the menu and recommendation based on our preferences. The drinks were crafted in front of us and brewed to perfection - both hot and cold. The experience was a big highlight of our trip in Tokyo. We want to specially thank the shop manager who gifted us with such a hospitable stay and memorable servings of chai. Arigato gozaimasu.

The Cold Strike Mountain with Mini Sel Roti and Spice Nuts (¥1520) was very good. The drink smelled lovely, and I could taste the different spices. The nuts were also tasty and complemented the drink. The only thing I was not a fan of was the mini sel roti, as it was hard and rubbery, as if it had been sitting out or reheated.

Tried Nepali style chai and it was very good. I particularly loved the chaipresso where you get the best of both worlds. The sets come with small snacks which go well with the chai. The atmosphere is very warm and peaceful, it’s nicely decorated as if you’re transported into another place.

The Chaipresso was AMAZING so many flavor notes! The Strike Mountain (Masala chai) was very flavorful. The ginger notes hang after your done. The rice cookie was so flavorful as well with the thyme herb standing out! Excellent chai! I've got to come back yet the others! Be prepared to wait to sit inside. It's worth it.

A friend took me to this place, and it was lovely at first sight… everything from the decor to the vibe, service, tea, lighting, and staff. I felt welcomed and at home the moment I set foot in Chiyaba. The tea is made with intention, and the flavors/aromas are rich. The owner (Asumi) is a beautiful spirit. She was very warm, stylish, caring, and kind. Also, Akira put a smile on my face every time I was at the tea house. I will continue to recommend this tea house and will always return when I am in Tokyo.
